The downward spiral of homicide detective Terence McDonagh is fast, ugly and irredeemable. Terence is addicted to vicodin and cocaine, yet convinces his boss to choose him to head up the investigation of a massacre of an African family. Terence’s lover, Frankie, is a hooker, but they love each other with a conviction. When armed thugs terrorize Frankie, Terrence is forced to come up with $50,000 in two days. He hides Frankie in his father’s house, and asks help from the dope-dealer Big Fate. Terence finds himself in a sordid web of repugnance and corruption, and the end of his career as a policeman seems inevitable.
